TDS-420 Digital Oscilloscope

I created this Digital Oscilloscope as one of the hero assets for The Broken Signal, an upcoming short film that I’m currently directing and developing. The story will set in a remote Antarctic research station in 1997, where two scientists intercept a strange radio signal. A lot of the visual inspiration for the technology and control rooms came from Contact (1997) and old SETI program stations.
.
The model was done in Maya and took about 12 hours to create. The UVs were done in ZBrush. And texturing were done in Substance Painter and took about 4 hours. At some point I will also do rig of the buttons, knobs and controls so the characters can physically interact with the it during the story. I also need to create the graphics for the monitor, but this will be a task for the future! :D
